THR Celebrates Nominees Night With Wagner Moura, Stellan Skarsgard

Just hours after the 230 artists and storytellers who are up for this year’s Academy Awards got together at the annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon, The Hollywood Reporter kept the awards season festivities going with a Nominees Night celebration.

The event, presented by Basil Hayden and Maserati, took over the penthouse suite of the iconic Chateau Marmont on Tuesday for an evening of drinks, dancing and raising a glass to this year’s awards contenders, with nominees Wagner Moura, Stellan Skarsgård, Jerry Bruckheimer, Raphael Saadiq and Diane Warren among those in attendance.

Moura told THR that the luncheon had been “weirdly emotional” and he’s enjoyed “bumping into sort of the same people” over the course of the campaign, name dropping Jafar Panahi, Jessie Buckley and the whole Sentimental Value team in particular.

The Secret Agent star also spoke about trying to keep his feet on the ground during this whole awards whirlwind, noting, “The fact that I have three sons and a family and things to do is that it really grounds you. This, what’s happening today and the entire [thing], this isn’t real life. We are doing this every day because it’s a campaign, it’s business, and we are very happy and it’s very rewarding and everything, but this is not where life lives.”

Real life will have to wait a little longer, though, as Hollywood enters that final stretch until the Oscars on March 15 — and first, there’s partying to be done. Panahi, Sinners executive producer Sev Ohanian and actor Omar Benson Miller, Bugonia writer Will Tracy and co-star Aidan Delbis, Train Dreams writer-director Clint Bentley, The Secret Agent filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho, F1 star Damson Idris and Kpop Demon Hunters voice actress Arden Cho — all of whom have projects in contention — came out to do just that.

The red carpet on the driveway of the hotel had some added flare as Maserati parked two of its cars (a ‘26 MCPURA Cielo and a ‘25 GranTurismo Trofeo) by the entrance. And after a quick elevator ride, the penthouse was the place to be, bumping with tunes from DJ Kiss with a Maserati martini station inside the suite, a Basil Hayden bar out on the terrace and a coupe tower shimmering alongside THR editor-in-chief Maer Roshan’s mid-party toast.

Moura made the rounds as Skarsgård spoke with Mark Strong and Damson caught up with Bruckheimer; The night was not just about the movie stars either, as Katherine LaNasa — straight off of a plane from the Olympics in Milan — kept close to her The Pitt co-star Taylor Dearden while also chatting with Tig Notaro and Abbott Elementary‘s Janelle James. Shrinking‘s Luke Tennie hung out on the terrace with real-life Tell Me Lies couple Branden Cook and Katherine Hughes, and comedian Kate Berlant got into a convo with Topher Grace; Chateau owner André Balazs, just in from London, even dropped in.

For the TV people, Dearden joked that with Oscar season, “It’s nice to not have to feel like we have to do anything for this one, just relax and hopefully watch all the movies. I’m getting there, I still have a lot to go,” with One Battle After Another currently her favorite.

Near the end of the night, it was Kesha who stole the show, arriving in fur and feathers and posing with Warren after the two collaborated on the Oscar-nominated song “Dear Me.” She then took to the dance floor, grooving alongside Idris and stopping for a pic with he and Skarsgård, before chilling out in one of the penthouse bedrooms. The other bedroom was also occupied, as creator Reece Feldman (a.k.a. @guywithamoviecamera) set up shop with some popcorn and filmed his own videos with the stars.

And as the evening came to a close, there was an eagerness to look forward to what’s next, as Miller noted that despite basking in Sinners‘ success since April, right after the Oscars, “It’s time to go back to work. I’ve been promoting a film now for about a year, it’s time to go back to work.”
